Seminar for traditional dance folklor "Ot Izvora" 2.04.22

Hello, We invite you to participate in our series of seven folk dance seminars! Here you will learn interesting and authentic Bulgarian folk songs played by folk musicians on traditional instruments and last but not least you will try local dishes and drinks from different Bulgarian regions.! After successfully held dance seminars in 2017, 2020 and in 2021. with participants from all over the world, the time has come for this series of folklore seminars, bringing ethnography from the source of Bulgaria. We have the incredible opportunity to learn directly from local folk dancers, musicians, dance groups and lyceums. Thus, on the one hand, we will help for the preservation of Bulgarian traditional folklore, and on the other hand, we will enrich our knowledge directly "from the source". We want to keep the Bulgarian dance clean, as shown to us, to dance it and pass it on to continue its "life". A truly noble cause, which aims to get to know our folklore in order to love our homeland even more. The seminar consists of 7 parts. During the day there will be a training / seminar part, each lasting at least 120 minutes. Includes: lecture part - style and nature of the ethnographic region; study of the dances and the musical instruments from it. In the evening, all together (teachers, musicians, and participants) will gather again and have fun with the dances learned during the day, to the sound of good traditional music. The dances will be mainly from the given folklore area. There will be a culinary challenge for everyone to prepare a traditional dish from the given ethnographic area in advance. The idea is to enjoy the food together in the evening, while "feeding" the soul with dances, songs and music.

The seminar starts in April and will be held every Saturday. We will be visited by various groups of folk dancers and musicians, who will show us authentic dances from their folklore area, performed on traditional musical instruments: kopanka, drum, tsafara, kaval, bagpipe, kemeny, zurna, etc. We will also have a guest group from Aegean Macedonia (today is Northern Greece), which will present the local traditional music and dance folklore, as well as the first CD released in Bulgaria "Wind to blow" with traditional dances from the region of "Kaymakchalan". All participants will receive a detailed program by e-mail!

In the dance hall "Ot Izvora", located in Sofia, sports complex "Slavia" - on the corner of "Koloman" and "Slavia" streets (next to the restaurant - "Slavia" garden, on the external stairs on the left). The hall is spacious (200 sq.m), with two changing rooms, two toilets, a large sun terrace in front, near the metro (metro station "Ovcha Kupel", with many free parking spaces - all conditions to feel good. The maximum number of participants in each part is 35 - 40 people. We register the first 35 - 40 participants, then close the registration for this part. We want to have a quality atmosphere in which the teacher masters the group and to hear the real sound of musical instruments (without additional sound with a ton of speakers), so you can enjoy and take somewhere there, in our beautiful Bulgaria!

For all those who for one reason or another are unable to attend the seminar live, we offer professional filming and online broadcasting of each of the seminars without the folklore evenings! The broadcast will be live on a closed Facebook page, where lectures and rehearsals remain saved and you can watch them repeatedly. Each part of the seminar will have its own private Facebook page, a link to which you can find below in the description of the dance seminar. Everyone, regardless of which part of the world they are in, will have the opportunity to touch the traditional Bulgarian folklore! • Start from 13:00. Admission is free! Presentation of the first CD released in Bulgaria "Wind to blow" by us dance club "Ot izvora" with 15 traditional songs and choirs from Aegean Macedonia (today`s Northern Greece) in the hall "Ot izvora".

• We continue with the seminar part: from 14:00. until 15:30 in the "From the Spring" hall. Lecture part - style and character of the dances from the western part of Aegean Macedonia. Guests: Christos Apsis and Paschali Burovanis - folk dancers who will present a total of 8 traditional choirs - 4 from the region of Maglen (now Almopia Greece) and 4 from Serres (now Greece Serres).
• Folklore evening with the orchestra from Aegean Macedonia "Halkina Ihohromata": beginning at 19:30. in the Alexander restaurant located at 40 Buxton Brothers Blvd. Dances from Aegean Macedonia will dance. 

PART III - DAY OF FOLKLORE FROM NEUROKOP CHECH - 16.04.2022
